Artists Message:

I grew up in North Berwick.

Golf courses were never something separate from everyday life—they were just there. Part of the view. Part of the walk down to the beach. The 13th green wasn’t some famous hole; it was just “The Pit.” The Bass Rock wasn’t a landmark. It was just home.

Over time (10+ years living in London) I realised how special that was.

Since coming back to Scotland ive really been lucky enough to spend a lot of time on many of Scotlands best courses. Despite this, they are still landscapes that excite and inspire me.

And that’s what I try to photograph. Not just the hole. Not just the architecture. But the feeling of being there.

My work begins with that understanding. I usually work in shifting light - early mornings, late evenings, under those huge skies, because that’s how these places live in my memory. Moody. Elemental. Full of atmosphere. I want my images to feel grounded, like you’re standing right there on the turf, not floating above it - even if most were shot with a drone!

I try to make images that feel timeless, more like paintings than regular photos. These prints are not souvenirs. They are pieces of place.

And I want these prints to hang not just as decoration, but as reminders of a special moment you had, on a landscape you are still thinking about.

Thanks and hopefully see you out on the links someday.
